The paintings made by Esther Schlebos emerge from her love for nature. Her works show a fascination for a mystical world captured in trees, rocks and rockformations.
Preferably she starts drawing pleinair sketches and finalizes these in her studio. She developed unique skills to emphasize certain elements in nature. A truthful image is important but by using lots of color and thick impasto layers of paint, she seduces people to take a closer look. Recognizable as landscape but above all the world of Schlebos.
At her graduation in 2019 she was awarded the Prix de Norvege and was granted a study trip to Norway.
In 2020 she was selected into the Push/Pull/Present project, part of the Talent Development Program ‘Artists in space’ by Platform Noordenaars and granted a artist in residence at the AADK Centro Negra, Spain.
Currently she’s working on a series of works about rocks across European countries.
She’s selected to attend the Master program Drawing Inventions Academy, from November 2021 till May 2022.
